1.Background
Established in 2003, multiple stakeholder social enterprise to provide one-stop enterprise support in the context of the Elephant & Castle regeneration in Southwark.
Services extended to cover the whole of Southwark and then broadened to cover London South Central and pan-London and have been broadened in their scope.
2. Services
Appropriate enterprise support particularly in disadvantage areas, where most of the national public branded schemes do not fully penetrate and support using our unique system, that has achieved a 92% business survival rate over 5 years (as good as someone buying a Mc Donald’s franchise);
- Provide comprehensive business support for both start-up and existing private and social enterprises;
- Specialised support and training for firms located in regeneration areas taking them through the whole regeneration cycle. This includes helping them to work better together.
- Training community leaders and community representatives in disadvantaged areas to help develop enterprising communities;
- Carrying out specialist independent studies to help local businesses in the context of regeneration and bringingtogether wide ranging professional expertise from lawyers, surveyors, accountants and planners covering the complexity of the implications of regeneration blight, wellbeing powers, S106 provisions, compulsory purchase, rent reviews, lease renewals etc;
- Supporting youth in enterprise by providing a broad range of services and support that young people are attracted to and use including flexible incubation based support ;
- Promoting and supporting innovation in the context of the regeneration of disadvantaged areas through our subsidiary company the London Knowledge Innovation Centre (LKIC) through virtual, satellite and physical incubation based at the Elephant and Castle, London SE1;
- Information, assessment and guidance followed by specialist training, coaching andmentoring for people who are either unemployed or economically inactive;
- Specialist training and consultancy for 0-5 childcare providers and after school clubs.
- Preparing business plans and carrying out marketing and innovation development studies
